this is jon Boyd with the home buyer's agen in Ann Arbort.

I have another inside secret I want to share with you home buyers.

This is about a scam real estate site here in ann arbor. There are probably some like it in your town.

I'm taping this on January 15th 2009 and at this moment if you do a youtube search for the phrase ann arbor homes for sale, you are probably going to see a site that looks like this:

I've blacked out the company name, this is absolutely real and Ive save screen shots and source code listings if you want proof.

Look at the pretty site with a featured home on the left here and a property selection area on the right. It even shows how many listings are in each area.

Doesn't it look nice an friendly? Well when you actually ask for any information it requires your email and your phone number. OK that isn't unusual.

Here is a scam:

These featured homes? It changes every time you refresh the site. But I thought I recognized some of the home so I got suspicious. I checked some of the property numbers. Six month old data. I checked about eight of the homes and of those eight, 3 had sold five or six months ago, three had expired, one was taken off the market, and only one was still available. And that had a price was off by $35,000.

This is a total scam and a waste of your time as a buyer.

But there is also a second scam:

These listing numbers on the right hand side?

You are led to believe this is current inventory right? Turns out it is made up. The numbers are hard coded into the site. A complete lie.

Shameful, but not that unusual in this business.
